Television wastes time, pollutes minds, destroys brain cells,
and turns some viewers into murderers. Thus runs the prevailing
talk about the medium, supported by serious research as well as
simple belief. But television has at least one strong virtue, too,
which helps to explain its endurance as a cultural force. In an
era when people often have little time to speak with one another,
television provides replacement voices that ease loneliness, spark
healthful laughter, and even educate young children.

このｻﾝﾌﾟﾙｴｯｾｲの introduction は最初の1パラグラフです。
introduction の最初の1文目は、topic sentence と呼ばれ、
これから始まるｴｯｾｲの軽いﾋﾝﾄや、驚くべき事実(grabber)！や、
問題提起(rhetorical question)などです。
はじめ方いろいろ☺☻

topic sentenceは詳し過ぎず、"general"がキーワード♦*
でも、詳しくなさ過ぎて、ｴｯｾｲの話題から外れているのはダメです。死
そしてだんだん内容を絞って絞って、
ｴｯｾｲの中で一番重要で、これから下に続くｴｯｾｲの細かいｱｳﾄﾗｲﾝを示す1文、
thesis statement にたどり着きます。

thesis statement は topic sentence とは逆で、"specific"がキーワード♦*
このような、▽funnel-shaped introduction が基本の高校ｴｯｾｲです(^-^)

このｻﾝﾌﾟﾙｴｯｾｲの topic sentence は1文目。

そして thesis statement は最後の文。
