Who is Jesus? Was he God or the son of God? Was he the messiah or another prophet? Did he exist or was he the figment of pagan imaginations? Was he white with blond hair , Jewish, Arab or a black man. Was he tall or short? Was he frail looking or built like Arnold Schwarzenegger? Was he a man or a woman? Was he single or married? Was he an anarchist, a philosopher?

What movie depicts the real image of Christ? King of Kings? The greatest story ever told? Jesus of Nazareth ? The last Temptation of Christ? Passion of the Christ? The DaVinci Code?

Many people have a such a distorted image of Christ because of a mental image they have in their head.

Me personally, I think Jesus was tall, with a muscular build since he was a carpenter. I think he was physically strong. This is well shown in the Passion of Christ, when he got flogged and his flesh was torn to shreds. Had he not been the son of God or strong as he was, he would have died at least twice from that beating

But that mental image I have doesn't matter. What's important is the message. If we keep chasing these mental images of who Christ was in the past , what he looked like, his involvement with Mary Magdalene or his so called "lost tomb" with his supposed remainings, then we are missing the real picture here. The real Jesus is not this mental image we have of him as historical figure, but his message of truth, salvation and hope. If you have faith that Jesus died for your sins, resurrected and believe his teachings, then you know who the real Jesus is, and not was. He is alive, not dead

Many people would like to believe that Jesus was just a philosopher that we turn into a God because he became a martyr. Of course history has embellished historical figures into legends, such as Robin Hood, Santa Claus , Joan of Arch ,and the list goes on. These people existed, but the mental image we have of them is not 100% accurate. And I'm sure if Jesus was just a legend like Hercules, King Arthur, Optimus Prime or Superman, we would not be standing here.

I'm a weak theist, big time sinner. I don't think the afterlife is awaiting me if I don't change my ways. But I believe in God, I believe that Christ rose from death and I believe in Heaven and all that is good in life.

And this why I believe that Jesus is salvation....

I think your faith has saved you, even though you consider yourself a goat amongst the sheep. Christ never asked us to be perfect, but to repent from our sins. Think of the adulteress who Christ could have stoned if he felt like doing it. But instead, he did not judge her by saying " Go and sin no more.

I went through the same thing as you did where I was overwhelmed thinking I was doom. I felt very sorry and sad,for having a decade of sins I carried within me. I ask the Lord for forgiveness and felt his love. It was a great burden taken off my shoulders.

But now, I don't feel like apologising anymore, maybe that's why I feel far away from God. I still believe in God and Christ, but did not love them with all my heart. I should start doing it now and find my way back on the right path.

Well, this makes me think of a lot of mafia guys or gangsters who would kill in a week, go to church for confession and start killing again. Confession is not saying " I'm sorry God" if you don't mean it and are going to do the same sin over and over.

But let's say you have sinned, ask for forgiveness, repent, but commit the same sin 100 times. But if you are really sorry for those 100 times and ask forgiveness without bullshitting the good Lord, then he's going to forgive you.
