Australian scientists have revealed details of a new test for Parkinson's disease.
There is no definitive way of testing for Parkinson's disease.
Instead doctors make a diagnosis by looking at a patient's symptoms.
But researchers at Melbourne's Howard Florey Institute have devised a way of testing for 17 genes implicated in the illness.
Lead researcher Dr Justin Rubio says the DNA test could be used on people with early symptoms of Parkinson's as well as those with a family history of the disease.
They will trial the test on 400 patients with Parkinson's before applying to health authorities to have it introduced.
