‘Ohina-Sama’ in Chuma
On Thursday 22nd February 2007 we will travel to Asuke, Korankei to view the Antique ‘Hina-Dolls’ that will be displayed at many houses during the Doll’s Festival in Asuke,Korankei. The dolls are proudly displayed from the various eras under the eaves of over 100 shops and houses in Asuke having been inherited for generations. Asuke is located in northeastern Aichi. It thrived as a post town in the Chuma Kaido Highway, which was the route to transport salt produced along the Mikawa Bay in the 19th century. The townscape is plastered with houses along the street reminiscent of the olden days. There is the Sanshu Asuke Yashiki, a replica of the townscape in the early 20th century. Here, you can watch the performance of the blacksmith, charcoal maker, paper maker and other artisans' inside their re-constructed buildings.
