Congratulations and welcome to the ePortfolio Scholar Project!
In recognition of the wonderful work collected in your ePortfolio, your faculty member has recommended YOU for LaGuardia's prestigious ePortfolio Scholar Project. Together with your faculty member, the ePortfolio team at the Center for Teaching and Learning is delighted to offer you an exciting opportunity to join this select group of students.
Beginning April 17th 2007, the ePortfolio team will hold welcome meetings for you to participate in the ePortfolio Scholar Project. During the course of the project and under the guidance of faculty and ePortfolio support staff, you will work together to deepen your ePortfolio experience.
What does this mean for you? Over the next 6 weeks, you and other participants can develop your ePortfolio, transforming it into an outstanding example of what LaGuardia students can do. You will have the chance to attend workshops and learn new technical skills that can enhance your portfolio. Just as important, these workshops will help you strengthen the content of your ePortfolio - helping you improve your writing and thinking, teaching you how to evaluate, revise, and complete an outstanding ePortfolio.
At the end of the Spring 2007 semester, you will receive recognition as an ePortfolio Scholar and a certificate of participation. Additionally, many scholars will be eligible for scholarships. Awards include:
* $100 to $200 Scholarships and a USB Pen/Flash Drive awarded to all Scholars who complete their ePortfolios with an evaluation of satisfactory and attend four workshops;
* $200 to $400 Scholarships and a USB Pen/Flash Drive awarded to Scholars who achieve evaluations higher than satisfactory and attend all workshops and;
* $500 Scholarship and a USB Pen/Flash Drive awarded to ‘Shining’ ePortfolio Scholars whose portfolios are evaluated as excellent.
Best of all, because each ePortfolio Scholar will have the same opportunity and support to create a Superstar ePortfolio, everyone will be eligible for the $500 stipend!
In addition, every Scholar can look forward to the following opportunities:
* Mentoring in a variety of academic skills, including writing and critical thinking, by LaGuardia ePortfolio faculty.
* Instruction in the use and application of a variety of digital technologies.
* ePortfolio Scholars’ interviews posted on the LaGuardia ePortfolio website
* The many benefits that come from having an ePortfolio including something amazing to show prospective employer, faculty, family and friends.
This will be a great opportunity for you, and we look forward to working with you over the next 6 weeks!
