Beltaine means 'bright fire'...it is the ancient festival of the Druids, a festival of fertility to celebrate the union of the Horned God and Goddess. At this time, life is renewing itself, birds and animals are mating. In the fields, newly planted seeds are beginning to grow.Ma ny people used to run through fires so they could be purified. We know this day as May Day now,and we erect a Maypole with colored ribbons on it. The maypole is a phallic symbol for men and the soft colored ribbons represent women! I remember as a child in school, all the kids used to hold a ribbon each and run around the Maypole so all the ribbons twisted around it, then we ran around the other way, untwisting it! This is a special time to be with your lover or even just love yourself! It is a celebration of the union between male and female! We put flowers on an altar, burn some incense like lavender oil or rose, hang pretty ribbons around and burn candles which are green or pink! It is a time to love your body so i suggest you have a lovely aroma oil bath and just relax with some soft music! Some witches even dance naked because it is a time of joy and love! So...see you at midnight my witches! Blessed Be to all! ☆☆☆
