Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

I saw the movie, "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back", a 2016 American action-thriller film directed by Edward Zwick, written by Zwick, Richard Wenk, and Marshall Herskovitz.
It's based on the 2013 novel Never Go Back by Lee Child.
Starring Tom Cruise and Cobie Smulders, with supporting roles by Patrick Heusinger, Aldis Hodge, Danika Yarosh, Holt McCallany, and Robert Knepper.
It's a sequel to the 2012 film Jack Reacher.
Box office is $162.1 million.

I read an article that Cruise's performance and the film's action sequences were praised but criticized the plot.

Tom often plays roles who are cheerful with kind of comical characters even in action movies, really charming
guys.
But in this movie, he plays very serious, tough guy, Jack Reacher who used to be an Army military police officer and now a drifter.
He has many amazing abilities, such as----
He can figure out and gains information of people with minute observations or simply from talking to people.
He is known as one of the best investigators the Army's in Military Police Corps.
He is also known as an extreme marksman.
and etc.

His personality is stoic and a man of few words.
Many audience must think this man is greatly different from Tom's character.
I feel so, too.
Still, he is the best actor for this role, I guess.
His performance is really good.

The story is---
Jack Reacher returns to his old military headquarters to meet Major Susan Turner who used to be his co-worker after a long time.
Then he is informed that Turner has been accused of spying and imprisoned.
Turner's attorney, Colonel Moorcroft, tells Reacher that some evidence shows that Turner is involved in the murders of two soldiers in Afghanistan.
But he thinks she is framed.

In addition, Moorcroft says an old friend of Reacher's has filed paternity suit against him.
She insists Reacher is the biological father of her 15-year-old daughter, Samantha.
He sees Samantha and finds she is a really rebellious,
bad girl doing bad things like stealing a classmate's credit card.
But I guess Reacher sees through she is actually a pretty
good girl.

After meeting Reacher, Moorcroft is killed by a SOCOM former operator-turned mercenary known as the Hunter.
And he frames Reacher for the murder.
Reacher is arrested and meets Turner in the prison.
Then two assassins come to them and Reacher beats the killers and escapes with Turner.
Then they guess Samantha is in danger and pick up her.

The two gain an information from a man who is drug addict that Hunter is working with Parasource's CEO, General James Harkness who is the CEO of a private military organization.
And he is trying to cover up the murders.
And----

Well, the story is pretty complicated.
But in short, story is about large scale of secret dealer of drugs and weapons.
What Reacher should do?
Anyway, you will see he is a really excellent detective and fighter.
Do you think Samantha is actual his daughter?
You will see.

Tom is said that he won't play Reacher again, but who would play better than him?
I don't know---
