みんなの食と生活を守るため、日本や海外の日本を愛する外国人の方々にも、是非よく知っていただきたいことがあるのです。
青森県の六ヶ所再処理工場は、日本全国５５基の原子力発電所から出た使用済み核燃料（核のゴミ）を扱う化学工場。本格稼動すると、原発一年分の放射能をたった一日で空や海に放出してしまいます。
「日本のエネルギー政策の一環として、大地や海に放射能が捨てられ、環境や食べ物が汚染されようとしていること」をどれだけの人が知っているでしょうか。環境や食べ物の汚染予測数値はすでに公表されていますが、ほとんど報道もされていません。
わたしたちみんなが使うエネルギーのこと。「このままでいいの？」 私たちはエネルギー大消費地である首都圏から問いかけ、また多くの人々とこの問題を共有し、伝え広めていきたいと思います。

■危険なプルトニウムを取り出す工場
「角砂糖５個分で、日本の全人口の致死量」といわれる超猛毒物質のプルトニウム。この物質を取り出す過程で、六ヶ所再処理工場は事故がなくても通常運転するだけで原発の３００倍以上の放射能を放出し、約４０年間運転を続けます。再処理の関連費用は約１９兆円と発表されており、すでに私たちの電気代から引かれ始めています。
■全国的に広がる「再処理ＮＯ！」の声
半永久的に続く放射能の影響が大変心配されており、多くの農家の方や漁師さん、海を愛するサーファー、環境や食の安全を守りたい全国の人々が、立場を超えてこの工場に反対し、その声は全国的に広がっています。今年５月には、「六ヶ所再処理工場のある核燃料サイクル施設の直下に活断層があり、沿岸部海域の『大陸棚外縁断層』とつながっている場合はマグニチュード８級の地震が起きる恐れがある」という指摘が学者グループからあり、不安は増しています。
※１０月２０日現在「本格稼動は今年の１１月」と発表されています。しかしこれまで１４回延期されており、今回も延期になる可能性が報道されています。

The Rokkasho reprocessing plant in Aomori is a chemical factory to process nuclear spent fuels (nuclear trash) produced at 55 nuclear power plants across Japan. Once the full scale operation begins, it would release one year worth of radiation into the sky and ocean. How many of us are aware that “the environment and food are about to be polluted by dumped radiation across the land and sea as a part of a Japan’s energy policy.” The level of predicted pollution has already been publically announced, but there’re almost no press reports.
It’s all about the energy that every one of us depends on. “Will we just let it be?” We are committed to question from a major energy consuming site of Tokyo, share this issue with as many people, and widely disperse the concern.
This is a fun and entertaining event for everyone. Please come along with your friends and family!

■A PLANT TO EXTRACT DEADLY PLUTONIUM
Plutonium is super toxic substance as much as “5 sugar cubes of it would wipe out the entire Japanese population.” In the extraction process, Rokkasho reprocessing plant under the normal operation releases radiation 300 times more than that at a regular nuclear power station and will operate over approximately 40 years. The related costs in reprocessing is announced to be approximately 19 trillion yen, and it’s already been deducted from our electricity bills.
■NATIONALLY-SPREADING VOICE OF “NO! REPROCESSING”
Concerns over the quasi-permanent effect of radiation is significantly growing. Many farmers, fishermen, sea-loving surfers, and supporters for environment and safe food get together regardless of their positions to oppose to the reprocessing plant. Their voice has been widely spreading across Japan. According to a report by a group of scientists in this May, “an active fault is located directly under nuclear fuel cycle facilities at Rokkasho reprocessing plant. If it’s connected to the fault of shelf edge, an 8-magnitude earthquake would be possible to occur.” This remark is raising general fears.
*As of Oct.20th, it is announced that “the full operation of reprocessing plant will resume in this November.” However, it’s been delayed 14 times so far, and the latest schedule is most likely to be postponed according to the press.
