There will be a Sayonara Party for alumni of the Department of East Asian Studies/School of Oriental Studies on Saturday 30th June 2007. This will be held in the Reading Room of Teikyo University’s Lafcadio Hearn Cultural Centre (which, for those of you who graduated before this was built, is on the left of the driveway leading up to Elvet Hill House). This offers a more spacious room than anything available here, but you will of course have the opportunity to look around Elvet Hill House.
We are planning to have coffee/tea from 2.00 pm with some entertainment and visits to the Oriental Museum, speeches at 4.30pm and a buffet meal from 5.30pm. This will be followed by karaoke for those feeling strong enough!
The event is being fully funded by an external source, so there will be no charge to you for this. You may, however, need to arrange accommodation but as 30th June is immediately after Congregation, there should be accommodation available in colleges if you wish to renew your acquaintance with your college. This party is intended to be a family-friendly event so please bring spouse/partner and children. Former members of staff are of course being invited too.
We would be grateful if you could pass this message on to other alumni from your year. For catering purposes, could you please let us know if you are intending to come and how many guests you will bring.
We look forward to seeing you.
