This is the sixth annual seminar on Japanese saké run at WSET in collaboration with Saké Samurai Association and Japan Airlines. It is a rare opportunity to taste a range of quality sakés in the presence of their Kuramoto (brewers); both are being flown out specially for this event.
Previous seminars in the series have studied specific aspects of saké production such as polishing rates, water, saké classifications and tasting technique. This time the subject will be regionality in saké, and to find out the extent to which location makes a difference, we will taste 9 sakés from 8 different prefectures, from Akita in the north to Fukuoka in the south. For a full list of sakés and Kuramoto see below.
The Seminar will be led by Mr Kenichi Ohashi, AIWS, who is not only a qualified Saké Instructor (SSI) but also bridges to the world of wine as a WSET Diploma graduate. He is, furthermore, an English speaker.
The event is being held at rather shorter notice than normal this year, for which all concerned apologise. Please also note the slightly earlier start time.
