Saturday, March 24, 2007 SHINJUKU GYOEN PARK 11:00~PARK CLOSING
Although there was almost no winter this year, still it's nearly time to shed a layer or two of clothes, get out into the warming air and take in the cherry blossoms, Japan`s dramatic way of heralding the arrival of Spring. Alumni of the "Pac-6" (UCLA, Cal, UCSD, UCSB, Stanford and USC), their family and guests are invited to gather at Shinjuku Gyoen Park on what should be a peak Sakura viewing day. Come and meet your old friends, and make a few new contacts with people with whom you have something in common, having attended one of California's top universities. Let's have some fun!
PLAN/COST
Simple. There is no admission fee (although the park charges a fee), and there is no RSVP. You may invite family members and guests freely. However, there is one request. All who come are requested to bring some food and drink, with some to share. Easy to prepare home-made dishes especially welcome (salads, pastas, meat dishes, cookies and cakes), but don't spend much more than 1,000 yen per person. We will be providing some beer and sodas to get the event started, but please don't count on us: BRING YOUR OWN! Other things to bring include leisure sheets for you and your friends to sit on, music boxes and CDC's, cameras (you get the picture!).
LOCATION/DIRECTIONS
Shinjuku Gyoen Park. There are park entrances accessible from Shinjuku station; Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station (Marunouchi line) and Sendagaya station (JR Sobu line). Beware: If you are entering from Shinjuku, once inside the gate, you still have to walk about 5 minutes to reach us, so you are advised to pick up a map at the gate. We will be at the north side of Naka-no-ike (Central Pond) near the rest house. If you can't find us, reconfirm your location on the park map and zero in on Naka-no-ike pond.
