Liz: You! What's thao on the pizza you're eating?
Ken: Beef curry. Why?
Liz: A beef curry pizza? That's disgusting!
Ken: No, it's not. It's actually very good. D'ya want some?
Liz: I'll pass, if you don't mind. I've never heard of anything like it.
Ken: Well, Indian food is really popular in England, isn't it? So why not mix Indian and Italian? It's not that weird. When I was in France they put all kind of weird stuff on their pizzas. Once we ordered a regular cheese and tomato pizza, and instead of Italian mozzarella it was covered in like, goat's cheese and blue cheese. It tasted like dirty socks.
Liz: Yeah, thinking about it, I guess people want to adjust pizza toppings to their local tastes. I remenber in Japan when my home stay family ordered pizzas for dinner one night. It was, like, a special treat for me, but when it arrived, it was covered with mayonnaise. And even worse there was octopus in the topping. Gross! I couldn't believe it. But, I didn't want to look ungrateful, so, you know, I had to eat it.
Ken: And what was it like?
Liz: It wasn't as bad as it sounds. I mean, I wouldn't order it myself, but it wasn't that bad.
