Tonight we celebrate the birthday of the current director of Filmforum, Adam Hyman, as he hosts some of his favorite films, followed by general desserts and carousing. (His birthday is actually tomorrow, Juneteenth.) Tonight is free! (Adam will take care of the rentals). But please consider making a donation to Filmforum on this occasion, to help us fund our next season. Perhaps $30 in honor of the 30th anniversary, or $40, to honor the number of years that Adam has completed on this earth.
I'll keep a few films secret until the night, but here are a few (well, more than half actually) of what you will see:
The Bridge by Joris Ivens (1928, 16mm, b&w) Cayuga Run by Storm De Hirsch (1967, 16mm, color/so, 18m) Hudson River Diary: Book 1 Bridges Go Round by Shirley Clarke (1958, 16mm, color/so, 3.5min.) Georgetown Loop by Ken Jacobs (1997, 35mm, b&w, silent, 11 min.) Hong Kong (HKG) by Gerard Holthuis (1999, 14 min, 35mm and 16mm (reduction print), b&w, sound)
