Dance/Theater Shannon's Home Season Fri., Sat., & Sun. at 8p Feb. 20-Mar. 1 - TWO WEEKENDS! at The Garage - 975 Howard San Francisco, CA
Come see some thoughtful dance artistry. The goal of this production is to gather up the accumulating repertory of Dance/Theater Shannon and have it performed in one location. By presenting these works, it will give our audience members a chance to see the scope of our rich, emotionally raw artistry. Thus far, Dance/Theater Shannon has presented work at various locations in San Francisco. For this production we will present one new work and restage three other dances. The new work is tentatively called "It Never Gets Old" and explores the act of touch in different power relationships. The other dances on the program include "After the Collapse" , which premiered at ODC Theater (9/07); "Swimming ", which premiered at the Move(men)t Festival last year (4/08); and "Dancing with Myself ", which premiered in 2003 and incorporates live video processing. We have also invited two guest choreographers to present their work in San Francisco. Jennie Pitts will present "one hundred and one small truths" is a piece that has grown out of a duet originally performed in 2006. It explores the dynamics of what is communicated and what is withheld and the consequences of either choice. Taryn Packheiser will present a new solo centered around psychological and emotional indecision. "Hemming and Hawing" incorporates dynamic energy contrasts and musings on personal editing choices when relative to communication through media. With accompanied sound and visual elements, the dancer becomes a world of stifled interaction within and around herself.
