Just to let you know, the VAC/GMHC Counselling Services is running a therapeutic group for gay men who experience anxiety, and is facilitated by professional counsellors. The group runs for six weeks. It will provide effective ways to overcome fears and behaviours that prevent people from being in the world in a way that is productive and fulfilling
We are currently seeking participants for the next Anxiety Group that will commence in February of 2008.
Do you avoid social situations because of feelings of fear?
Do you rely on alcohol or drugs to reduce inhibitions and /or increase your confidence?
Do you want to feel confident and in control?
Do you find yourself thinking over and over again about the same ‘old stuff’ without getting anywhere? Is it starting to become boring? Are you over these feelings? Does anxiety, fear and worry stop you from living the life you would like? Stop you from achieving the goals you have set yourself? Stop you from feeling comfortable within yourself or with others?
Do you want to get your life back?
Anxiety is a basic emotion and a normal response to threat. However, some people can experience more anxiety than is helpful. You are not alone if you experience anxiety.
The next group will begin in early February. For more information call Trish Thompson on 9865 6700 or email trish_thompson@vicaids.asn.au <mailto:trish_thompson@vicaids.asn.au>
