OCジャズ倶楽部、7月のイベントはカナダ出身のピアニスト／歌手、Carol Welsmanに決定です！　去年見に行ってますので、この倶楽部としても2回目になります。管理人が惚れているものですから…^^。

For our July event, we'll go see Carol Welsman, talented singer and pianist from Canada. We saw her perform last year, so it will be our second time.

ウェルズマンはストレート・アヘッドなジャズを基本にしつつも、コンテンポラリー・ジャズ的な感覚があり、ポピュラー・ソングやカントリーに至るまで、色んな曲を題材に取り上げる多彩なアーティストです。最新アルバムを最近リリースしたばかり。もっと売れていい歌手だと思います。

Welsman's roots are in straight ahead jazz, but she has a sensibility of contemporary jazz as well. She takes popular songs, even country songs and give them a jazzy spin. She also has just released her latest CD. She's a singer who deserves a wider audience in the US.
