■ 会社紹介 Crown Agents is a long-established provider of services that support international development. It is an internationally-based organization with its head office in the UK. It acts for many clients around the world that include governments, authorities, utilities and companies in developing countries and for international aid donors and agencies that support the developing world.
■ 講演内容 We have a highly valued relationship with Japan which started in the 1950's with Japan's unprecedented rise to become the world's largest manufacturer. As a major international procurement organization, Crown Agents realised that it could better serve the interests of its clients by establishing itself in Japan which it duly did in both Tokyo and Kobe. In 1987 Crown Agents became a procurement agent under Japan's Grant Aid Programme and began another chapter in its relationship with Japan which continues to this day. The work that Crown Agents has undertaken on programmes funded by Japan covers many countries and requires various skills and services, not just procurement. We are going to discuss our role and the values we can give to the Japanese ODA, using examples from our involvement in Japanese Non-Project Grant Aid to countries such as Ghana (the grant is used to support Small and Medium Enterprises), Zambia(agriculture sector) and Kyrgyzstan (infrastructure of the Public Transport system). Whilst it represents a modest portion of Japan's total aid commitment we are proud to have played a part in a range of programmes and assignments that have contributed to its aid objectives. We welcome the opportunity to describe and share some of those experiences as witnessed by an independent "practitioner" in the delivery of international aid and to answer any questions that our presentation might stimulate.
