English message after Japanese ───────────────────────────────────── Vital Japan 第105回 月例勉強会: 2012年9月8日(土) 6:30pm- 【飯田橋】 ◆Topic「日本企業の英語化は何をもたらすか? - 最先端から見える風景 」 "Englishnization of Japan Inc. - Why now?" 使用言語:英語 Session language: English ─────────────────────────────────────
Japan's dominance on the global business stage is slowly shrinking. In 2007, a Goldman Sachs report forecasted that Japan's share of global GDP would shrink to 3% in 2050 from its then-share of 12% in 2006. Should Japan sit passively by and watch its global role shrink to nothing? What might the dangers be to the country of doing nothing?
In this workshop, we will discuss if and/or how the adoption of the language of English can help turn around Japanese industry and how you would tackle this somewhat controversial move at all levels from government (national to local), industry (global players to mom & pop shops), and educational policy.
▼Speakerのご紹介 Kyle Yee is the head of the Englishnization Project at Rakuten, Inc. He arrived in Japan in 1991 and spent 10 years in the field of English language education.
