Out last week:

HOT CHIP One life stand
The next long awaited (by me anyhow) new album from the somewhat geeky bunch of guys that are Hot Chip. They have had huge commercial success but have maintained a very ethical stance with refusing some big money to use their music to endorse products that they do not agree with & I for one applaud that, they have also picked up a Grammy nomination along the way. One life stand was worth the wait, for me anyhow!

BEACH HOUSE Teen Dream
The third & latest album from this apparently a 'Dream Pop' band from Baltimore. Good whatever you call it! Some growers in there with those soothing vocals matched with throbbing beats.

THE IRREPRESSIBLES Mirror Mirror
Debut album available now on UK import, from this magically modern classical ten piece band from London. Real instruments, real music. Sadly probably too many of this lot to fit in most pubs!

Maybe you missed last year?

ANDREW BIRD Noble Beast
Andrew Bird is the sort of guy that you want to turn up in your local & bring a couple of his many instruments with him! Folky, bluesy & jazzy! He played in Japan last week so a bit late on bringing that one to your attention, sorry!

Live in Japan:

BLOOD RED SHOES Box of secrets
Playing live in Japan ahead of their new album release 'Fire like this'. More of a Punk ethos than the current slew of UK guitar bands & nicely named after a Fred & Ginger movie. Like all good things in life, they come from Brighton! (Don't worry we will have a night of Brighton only musicians at some stage!)

Grammy's section (or Granny's section?)
Not an exhaustive list but some highlights & the not so obvious.

KINGS OF LEON Use somebody
The Followill brothers came out on top. I guess if you wanna win a Grammy it helps to come from Nashville?

TAYLOR SWIFT Tell me why?
Took me ages to find a track that it was possible to listen to! There you go I am not a fan of country music (to put it mildly) but heel yeeh how can all those dosidooing thigh slappers across the pond be wrong? Just look at her sales & tour schedule! I went for one of the totally country songs anyway! Hang on they are all totally country songs!

BOOKER T JONES Potato hole
Not what I was into when he was with the MGs but now I seem to be able to go with it! He also has a Grammy Lifetime achievement award to go with this for Best Pop Instrumental Album.

AC/DC War machine
Of course best Hard Rock performance! Timeless rockers came back in style with their album Black ice.

PHOENIX
Justly deserved for the French guys. I may as well just leave them on the playlist every week!

EMINEM, DR. DRE & 50 CENT Crack A Bottle
What to say Stan is my karaoke song!

NORAH JONES Chasing pirates
She did not win but well worth a listen or a sing and she has a karaoke page!

STEPHEN MARLEY Mind Control
Like father like son! Bob must be smiling....Ziggy also won in the music for children section.

A.H.RAHMAN O...Saya
Bollywood has arrived at last.

(I could not play Taylor Swift AND The Zac Brown Band!)

A bit of TV!
JACK EVERETT Bad things
True Blood indeed!
Lost Theme
Cannot believe it started so long ago. It seems like only next week!
24 Theme
Jack is into his 8th day with no sleep!

Calvin Harris also slipped in somewhere as he was requested last week!
