豊臣秀次による町づくりから400年以上もの時を重ねてきた近江八幡市。
そんな琵琶湖のほとりの小さな町を、横浜のアートグループART LAB
OVA（アートラボ・オーバ）の2人組“オーバちゃん”が隅々までたずね歩きまし
た。
一見、昼も静かなふつうのレトロ町家の通り。
ところがその扉を開けたら、愛らしい服を着たキューピー人形入り寿司パックが
玄関先でお出迎え！　奥の蔵では貯め込まれた箸袋コレクションに包囲され、
店先でも数十年前のアニメキャラ水筒が現役売り物として登場！！
手を動かして物を作ることが当たり前の人たちが、捨てられるはずの物をもう一
度生かして、自分のためにお茶の間を飾るーー
それが「近江八幡お茶の間ランド」！
この展覧会では、慎ましやかでキョーレツなパワーを持つ近江八幡の人と物を、
町屋を改装したミュージアムに丸ごと再現。
さらに、横浜や東京から自室を飾る人や生活の在り方を追求しているアーティス
トも参加して、「暮らすこと」「作ること」「表現すること」の面白さと不思
議さに迫ります。
近江八幡の人々のアイデアで、展示は常に増殖し変化します。
通うほどに味わい深くなる「お茶の間ランド」にちょっと寄ってくれはらへん？

Come on by the "Omihachiman Ochanoma (Living Room) Land"
- The cute day-to-day life in an ordinary town -

People, for whom it is natural to use their hands to create something, have taken something that would otherwise be thrown away, breathed new life into it, and have decorated their living rooms with it --
That is what we call the "Omihachiman Ochanoma (Living Room) Land"!

The art group ART LAB OVA from Yokohama, an emerging vibrant city, walked the streets of Omihachiman, a historical yet ordinary town. The group met there, demure yet extraordinary and outrageously powerful people.
With their help, ART LAB OVA has transformed a pristine dwelling in Omihachiman and recreated in it the rooms of and the masterpieces created by the people of Omihachiman.
Artists from the Yokohama area who also decorate their own rooms or seek to define what our lifestyles should be like have also taken part. Together we have taken a closer look at the fun and mysteries of "living",
"creating", and "expressing".

The exhibition is always multiplying and undergoing metamorphosis with the ideas of people from Omihachiman.
Come on by the "Ochanoma (Living Room) Land" ? the more times you visit, the more it will seem rich and mellifluous.
