DESCRIPTION: 1.5-mile swim ~ 2.5-mile run ~ 13-mile bike ~ 10K run First, you'll swim the 1.5-mile "Escape" swim course from Alcatraz Island. Fortunately, the tides are very predictable with the help of a Tide Log, which allows us to choose an ideal date each year to stage this event and give you the chance to swim from The Rock (thus having it in September this year). The swim finishes at Aquatic Park, where you'll exit the bay and thaw out for the bike with a 2.5-mile run to the transition area at Crissy Field in the Presidio.
The next leg of your escape is the 13-mile bike ride. This is a hilly, triple-loop course through the Presidio - starting and finishing at the west end of Crissy Field. The bike course will be closed to car traffic.
The final 10K run will take you through Golden Gate National Recreation Area and across Baker Beach, where the climb up the infamous Sand Ladder will test your mettle. Throughout the course, you'll enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline.
After that description, what are you a waiting for?!! This event is limited to 700 participants. Register before the event is closed...it is sure to sell out! Everyone who's anyone will be part of THE ULTIMATE ESCAPE!
