Dear (Contact First Name),
Happy Father's Day!!! Thank you for participating in this years Silicon Valley Olympic Triathlon. I hope you enjoyed the race and party as well as the San Jose Pro Challenge. I must first apologize for three major obstacles that were thrown your way in this year's race.
-The lack of volunteers in the transition, I was expecting to have over a hundred volunteers and had only 80, which dramatically affected the flow throughout the race.
-The distance of the run course, due to city enforced changes we had to make immediate adjustments to the course and follow by the guidelines that were put on the use of certain areas around Almaden Lake. The changes that my run course crew made were not correct and directly affected the outcome of your new course, which ended up being about 1 mile to long. I apologize for this issue and this will be handled more efficiently by my team in the future.
-The start of the race, with the addition of the San Jose Pro Challenge event this year the start times were pushed out 20 minutes. This will be avoided in the future and start times will be communicated well in advance if they're pushed out.
Again, I do apologize for the disorganization in this years race and thank you all again for taking your fathers day to enjoy a great race in San Jose. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or comments.
For those who stuck around for the Pro Challenge, Chris Lieto and Becky Lavelle blew away the field in the San Jose Pro Challenge. Chris Lieto came off the 40k TT Bike with a 3min plus lead and cruised to a 1st place finish in the five stage event that consists of a TT Bike/Swim/Run/Swim/Run course. Chris road a sub 50 minute 40k bike and reached speeds of 45-48 miles per hour on certain areas of the bike course. David Thompson finished second 1 min 30 seconds behind Chris Lieto and Chris Foster took the third position. Becky lavelle was also successful in her Pro Challenge debut, with Kelly Couch taking second and Gina Kehr third. Look for Folsom Olympic Triathlon to hold the next of many Pro Challenge races.
