Sundown Session 26 is shaping up to be a good one. Get down to a-bridge in Sangenjaya Sunday March 26 for some of Tokyo's finest downtempo sounds.
Mr Socrates, Yasuo and Jona will be spinning blended beats and we have live performances from Ben Kemp, Super Samir and Jet Jaguar
Ben Kemp(www.benkemp.co.nz) is a Tokyo-based New Zealand-born musician and writer who draws inspiration from his Maori roots and his fascination with Japanese culture, seeking to "create fusions between Polynesian and Japanese artistic influences".
Andre Sakai Salib, aka Super Samir(/www.geocities.com/super_samir/ ), is a founding member of the Tokyo rock quartet Farida's Cafe, but also creates electronic music in the vein of ambient, breakbeats, drum'n'bass as well as film scores. In 1999 he started making funky breakbeat tracks under the name 'Super Samir'.
Straight out of the NZ electronica scene is Jet Jaguar (www.nonwrestler.com), just one of the aliases of NZ born musician Michael Upton. On his albums and in his live performances, Michael explores rhythms and textures and with Jet Jaguar he is now producing stripped back, groove based instrumental electro dubs.
Things kick off at 5pm and run until 11. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather so we can start taking advantage of that amazing roof balcony.
