Hello, everyone.
I am organizing Japanese Student Network's Symposium 2007. It is going to be held on 3/11(Sun) from 12:00pm - 3:00pm at The New Otani in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.

We are going to invite Ms. Iinuma and Ms. Yasuike. The topics will be about successful Japanese people who were educated at universities in U.S. or Europe, presented by Ms Iinuma, and the current Japanese social situation and problems, presented by Ms. Yasuike.
Ms. Iinuma will talk about:
Hideyo Noguchi...A prominent Japanese bacteriologist who discovered the agent of syphilis disease in 1911. He is a symbol of a successful Japanese who studied in the U.S. He is on 1000 yen bill.
Gozo Kawamura...A sculptor who made sculptures in U.S. supreme court in Wachington D.C.
Prince Matsudaira...An Engineer of Brooklin Bridge
We will prepare an English sheet for those who do not speak Japanese, and we will explain the contents in English in a ceremony after the speech.
Ms. Iinuma is also a master of Japanese tea ceremony. It would provide a good chance to ask her about Japanese traditional tea culture.
The event will be a very useful event for people who are interested in Japanese culture to learn about Japanese society and to meet Japanese people, as well as learning Japanese language. I would appreciate it if you made time for our symposium and invite tons of your friends, *hahaha*. The event is free, and we will provide you a cup of tea and some cookies.

「知性の部」と評されますこのシンポジウムは、同じく我々が「感性の部」として開催するイベント東京ナイトと双璧をなす大変重要なイベントです。今年で第五回をむかえますこのシンポジウムは、リトル東京の The New Otani で開催され、これまで世界でご活躍されています著名な方をお呼びしてきました。また、幸いにもたくさんの方々のご好評を頂き、光栄の至りで御座います。今年も The New Otaniで３月１１日日曜日の１２時から開催いたします。
今年のシンポジウムは、２部制にいたしまして、前半では飯沼信子先生に野口英世に代表されるような渡米して輝かしい業績や成功を収められた人々についてお話をしていただく予定です。このお話から現在、またはこれから社会に出ようとされている方々のご参考となれば幸いです。後半は安池明子先生から今話題となっている格差社会について学ぼうと思っております。またその話題を通じまして、アメリカと日本の社会構造の比較や解決策などについてお話していただきます。
また、講演の後にはＪＳＮの奨学金に入賞されました方々の表彰式も行います。入場料は無料ですので、皆様お誘い合わせの上ご来場くださいますようどうかよろしくお願いいたします。また事前登録して会場にいらした方の中から抽選で５名様に東京ナイトチケットを差し上げますので是非事前登録なさってからいらしてください。
