UK JAZZ DANCE SPECIAL

The British Council in Tokyo has the pleasure of hosting a special evening devoted to the the Jazz Dance scene on Saturday June 6th . There are some very special guests booked for the event and the whole thing is FREE!

- The legendary British percussionist and DJ Snowboy will be giving an illustrated talk (in English) on the history of the UK Jazz Dance scene. Snowboy has been involved in the UK Jazz Dance scene for well over twenty years and has in depth firsthand knowledge on the subject. He has also written a book on the subject (From Jazz Funk & Fusion to Acid Jazz) and it has just been published in Japanese. It's a great opportunity to hear him talk about a scene he is closely involved in and feels passionately about.

- There will a dance performance from Stax Groove -- a four piece dance unit who have made a name for themselves both in Japan and overseas performing as dancers to a number of top artists as well as dancing at prominent events and festivals. In addition Tokyo-based British DJ Lincoln (who organises the monthly BeBop Square event) will be spinning tunes throughout the evening.

As well as the entertainment there will be some drinks and refreshments as well as the chance to win some prizes.
