Happy New Year! Joshikai is a networking group for Japanese women and women with a connection to Japan. On Thursday, January 13th, we'll meet for an evening celebrating the launch of our new logo at EZ5 in the Financial District.
As announced before, we have a new logo, designed by local artist Tomoko Maruyama. In addition to being a wonderful and lovely lady, she is an extremely talented artist and designer. We love the logo she created, and we want to offer her our deepest thanks!
Tomoko creates beautiful images of San Francisco landmarks (Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, Alcatraz). Take a look at her work on her website, or at her Etsy shop. Her work is also currently on display at the Japantown Mall. Again, thanks so much, Tomoko!
At this event, we'll also have special guest speakers Rie Shibata and Ayako Miyaguchi from TABLE FOR TWO (TFT). TFT is an organization that simultaneously addresses hunger in the developing world and obesity in the developed world. Rie and Ayako will speak about their concept and activities to transfer excess calories from places like the U.S. to countries in need.
We' ll meet from 6pm-9pm at EZ5. The happy hour is from 4pm-8pm. Food is NOT served there. Yes, you can bring outside snack or food, but not drinks. As always, this is a great opportunity to practice your language skills (Japanese and English) and connect with women who have similar interests.
