Singer, guitarist, and songwriter Eric Sarmiento has performed across the U.S., and in Europe and Japan. He has also recorded several albums for American-based independent record labels. Formerly front-man of several groups including The Pistol Arrows, A Suncrush for Sweethearts and The New Tribe, he is currently performing as a solo artist.
His songs blend together a variety of influences, ranging from Jeff Buckley to Wilco, Caetano Veloso to Van Morrison, creating a unique style with elements of indie-rock, jazz and world music.
In 2004, he recorded his debut solo album, "Moonlight is Sunlight," and with several musical colleagues formed the independent record label Alchemist Records.
His former group, The Pistol Arrows, recorded two albums, "The Pistol Arrows," released by Remorseless Records in 2001, and "Look!" released by Engine Shed Records in 2002. "Look!" was recorded at Bell Labs studio in Norman, Oklahoma and produced by the band and Trent Bell (The Flaming Lips, The Chainsaw Kittens, The Starlight Mints). Promoted by Team Clermont, distributed by Carrot Top Distribution,the album was well received, spending eight weeks in the CMJ college radio charts.
Featured on a variety of websites (Besonic.com, Mp3.com, GarageBand.com, etc.) Mr. Sarmiento's work with various groups has enjoyed success on the world wide web, garnering over 30,000 downloads and plays.
Mr. Sarmiento is currently living and performing in Tokyo, Japan.
