“Children's tasting and cooking class -- Slow Food Tokyo Bay”
Hello from Slow Food Tokyo Bay!
The Keyaki Garden Festival is a festival based on the movie, "The Future of Food". At this festival, there will be both a tasting session, as well as a cooking demonstration and class.
1. Cooking class: we will be cooking a seasonal curry rice dish, made without a traditional (processed) roux. The vegetables used are all grown without chemicals and so fresh that even children will be asking for more.
2. Tasting class: while the curry is simmering, we will be offering a tasting session for both children and adults. Taste buds are not fully developed until age 8, when children begin being able to differentiate sweet from sour and salty from bitter. If children are not exposed to such flavors by age 10 (at the latest), they face the possibility of never fully developing their palate. At this tasting, children will have an opportunity to taste foods of various flavor profiles.
