Holland Festival 2008: In Space
choreography: Ted Brandsen, Hans van Manen, Krzysztof Pastor; Michael Schumacher; Juanjo Arques, Daniela Cardim, Peter Leung and Nicolas Rapaic
music: soundtrack, Michael Moore & ensemble
Holland Festival Programme: In Space
World Premiere
At the 2008 Holland Festival the Dutch National Ballet presents a unique collaborative project. The Dutch National Ballet’s three resident choreographers - Ted Brandsen, Hans van Manen and Krzysztof Pastor – join forces to create a full-length production. In addition four young dancers / choreographers from the Company’s own ranks – Daniela Cardim, Nicholas Rapaic, Juanjo Arques and Peter Leung - each make a solo.
Choreographer and dance-improvisation teacher Michael Schumacher and jazz musician Michael Moore and ensemble also take part in the programme. This unique full-length production is inspired by, and also features, Van Manen’s Situation of 1970. A far cry from the multimedia spectacle, this production returns us to the essence of dance and its four primary elements: the human body, music, space and time.
