Topic Turbo-boosting your translation productivity today! Breakthrough in quality and speed
Outline In the first part of this lecture, Yuji will introduce UTX (universal terminological exchange), a simple, versatile glossary format. In the second part, he will talk about leveraging UTX glossaries with machine translation software, an area not explored by many. He will also tell about his recent book on Practical Japanese, a writing guide for practical documents. Regardless of the domains of your translation, leveraging various translation tools and skills is crucial to ensure quality and boost productivity. Unfortunately, terminology management is one of neglected fields. The lecture starts from the basic of terminology management in translation, covers hidden benefits, and explores its various applications. Practical Japanese is a set of simple writing rules for practical documents. By learning basics of terminology and style guide, and powerful tools to use them, you will be able to boost quality and speed of your daily translation work. Prior to the lecture, the participants are encouraged to read his online articles on various translation tools/skills <http://goo.gl/fVj3e> and Practical Japanese <http://goo.gl/tcagc>. If you have questions regarding these topics, Yuji is happy to answer in English during and after the lecture (the lecture itself will be delivered in Japanese, by the requests)! At the end of the lecture, a free copy of his book 『IT時代の実務日本語スタイルブック』 is given out to a lucky winner!
