Armelle Dousset is quite interested in every possible form of expression through art. After passing a Performing Arts degree in the cinema section she joined the CNDC in Angers (France) where she attended the Choreographic Artists II training. At the same time she went on practising as a musician by creating the"Rhizottome" duo with the saxophonist Matthieu Metzger. In 2009 she left for Japan to invent the performance “Haigorei” in which she intends to analyse the concepts of shadow duality fragility and vulnerability. Through this heterogeneous experience which she is proud of she has never stopped dealing with all this food for thought that can be found either in her dancing performances or woven in her musical creations. Back from Japan she is presently performing with various choreographers in France as Alain Buffard Bernardo Montet Laurent Falguieras Olivier Normand and the Gdra. Matthieu Metzger : A big dose of conservatoire with fun like a good boy (classical saxophone jazz sol-fa etc.) Questions about what's dealing before and between our ears (musicology studies writings on Meshuggah) Electronic tummys (and electrochocs...) some bitter and dark rock self-taught recording techniques by musical necessity and emergency. A lot of projects crawling in mind. Rhizottome (old french noun designating the herbalist who cut the roots) is an encounteer between an accordion and a sopranino saxophone. They play and expand upon themes of traditional music - exploding them in improvised flights in order to "re-compose" them in new different and challenging ways. Their music is at once both sensitive and energetic - jumping from sweet and subtle passages one moment to chaotic and aggressive passages the next. They attempt to create a dialogue between their two instruments - to build each time new stories new dances. They conjure up odd images of computer driven barrel organ and a curious talkbox. Rhizottome write all their own compositions and are an exhilarating and challenging live proposition.
