Title: Content Based Music Structure Analysis.
Abstract: Music structure analysis is essential in order to understand music data and helpful for developing many music applications such as music transcription, music information retrieval systems, music watermarking, error concealment in music streaming, music summarization and mixed media (audio + video) applications. In this presentation, I talk about a conceptual pyramid model which represents the music structure information and propose signal processing techniques which incorporate music knowledge for extracting information in music data. Proposed music data analysis procedures indicate better results than conventional speech processing techniques.
Bio: Dr. Maddage has been with Institute of Infocomm research (I2R), Singapore, since August 2001, where he is currently research fellow. From October 2000 to August 2001 he worked in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication at University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He received the Ph.D degree in computer science from National University of Singapore and B.E degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology India in 2005 and 2000, respectively. Dr. Maddage’s main research interest is audio/music information retrieval. Currently he is the principle investigator for research and development project, scalable music search. He is a member of IEEE and ACM societies and has actively participating in technical reviewer committees for several multimedia transactions, journals and conferences of these societies.
