Live bands VERSUS n°1 Common Deflection Problems Dobly
Disco Geisha returns for our first party of 2010, still basking in the memory of our last event. We are back with everything you need for a Sunday afternoon-evening session. It sure won't be like a normal party as you can get early there for free entry with special happy-hour drinks and nice disco-jazzy vibes earlier on. After 7pm we have three special live bands to kick-start your Sunday evening, with DJs playing house and techno to jack you later on.
Disco Geisha features resident DJs Tomoki Tamura (a prolific producer via Tomoki & Nonop and the club host too), Italian DJ duo Eightbitrate, Naoki Shimizu and Supermethod,Zorion(Techscover) &koma firing up minimal beats alongside deep disco and soulful house electronica. Disco Geisha is 'not too deep, nor too hard or banging,' says Tamura, and it attracts a cosmopolitan mix of British, Japanese and continental house connoisseurs - like all the best Sunday sessions.
What those other Sunday sessions don't have though is some special Japanese food, great geisha art on the wall and our ace bar-tenders to serve cocktails. And none of the house and techno-driven Sunday sessions that scurry around east London are bold enough to deliver a truly diverse musical mix early on that features three live bands:
This month we have got special live band Versus n°1 directly from Italy. Don't miss their rare UK show as the band, aka Dagon Lorai & Walton Zed, are two very distinctive and multi-faceted artists. Their performances together create a striking ambience, full of strange and theatrical elements. The play starts: a battle between the duo, fighting each other armed with guitars, trumpets, phonograph, poetry, painting, noises and screams...
Common Deflection Problems are three east London-based Italians, Antonio, Gianpiero and Mario, who have played together since 2008. As a result of their mixed musical backgrounds, Common Deflection Problems' sound has been influenced by grunge, stoner, indie, math and punk rock, and there's some jazz and prog vibes in there too. They produced their first EP "Naked", and collaborate with Brigadisco Records.
Dobly are a UK-based Japanese band whose multi-vocal lyricism and neo shoe-gazing sound immerse you in the soothing-yet-thrilling Dobly world.
