Kanako Horiuchi, guest star from Okinawa supported by the London Okinawa Sanshin Group
Kanako Horiuchi is a young disciple of Misako Oshiro, the most famous senior female singer of “island songs”. She will sing a variety of songs - moody to manic, traditional to contemporary.
On some pieces Kanako will be backed by the London Okinawa Sanshin Group, who will also perform the powerful Eisa drum-dance suite of the Buddhist ancestral festival.
You’ll even get to sing a few choruses and join in the free-style kachashii dancing that enlivens every Okinawan social occasion. See you there!
