Good morning half-fast bikers!
First of all, an answer to that question that's been going around, "How many Frenchmen does it take to fix a flat?" (See attached photo)
Ride #1:
Saturday April 28th - Tokyo to Utsunomiya ("T2U") 150km
All start 08:00 sharp @ Grand Hyatt, carrying their bike bags!
Mike to lead. A few km of Tokyo until we cross the Sumida River. After than 90% of the ride is on riverside cycle paths. Almost completely flat! Taking in Sendahorigawa; Nakagawa; Shinkawa; Edogawa; lunch next to Sekiyado Castle; Tonegawa; Watarasegawa; Omoikawa; Sugatagawa; Tagawa. Abundant opportunities to bail out by train. Gyoza for those who make it to the end. Train back to Tokyo (choice of Shinkansen or semi-express) .
As a counterpoint to the somewhat oxymoronically dubbed "half-fast overachievers" ride above, I think I'll go to the beach and drink some beer and do some sunbathing. An underachievers' ride. Start 11:00 a.m. from the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi hills, 30km round trip to Haneda (Jonan Jima Seaside Park, where we always go). I plan to spend at least two hours there, so this is kind of "going to the beach on a bike" rather than a bike ride per se. Bring a beach towel and maybe a Frisbee. Back by 3:00 or 3:30, but you can leave (or go there) at any time.
Ride #3:
Sunday Arakawa
Our usual 60-70km Arakawa River loop. Start time 11:00 a.m. Hyatt. Back by 4 or 5.
Ride #4:
Monday Tama
Our usual 50km Tama River loop. Start time 11:00 a.m. Hyatt. Back by 4.
