I welcome all of you to an exceptional, exciting, multicultural performance @ Arnolfini! This performance is based on Japanese Zen-poetic travelogue presented as a part of Bristol Poetry Festival 2007. Feel a weird culture of Japan and Ralph’s Zen theory over beautiful poems and Haiku (Japanese poem of seventeen syllables [in 5‐7‐5 syllabic form]) . This is more than just a healthy Sushi with soy souse…!
--------------------------------------------- HANA NO KAGE /Shadow of A Flower --------------------------------------------- presented by….Ralph Hoyte Stephen Ives Haruka Furuya
The performance is a dramatized reading based on Ralph’s Arts Council-funded 5-week trip to Japan in 2005, following in the tracks of one of the most famous Japanese poet in the past, Matsuo Basho's 'oku no hosomichi'-The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
Ralph Hoyte http://www.ralphhoyte.net/ An poet/artist who works with words in various contexts, whose latest work is PAST PRESENT...FUCHSIA, a 124m-long text-based artwork running alongside the new Broadmead development in Bristol as part of his residency with the Bristol Alliance.
