14:40-16:10 講演: Agathe Keller 「A landscape of mathematics in VIIth century India: Bhaskara I's commentary on the second chapter of the Aryabhatiya.」
Bhaskara I's commentary on the Aryabhatiya, is one of the first prose texts handed down to us in Sanskrit and concerned with astronomy and mathematics. As such it enables us to follow his reasonings and conceptions on all sorts of technical problems and objects. In my paper, having situated him in the general history of mathematics in India, I will try to give an overview of the questions he has tackled in the mathematical part of his commentary: from arithmetics to trigonometry, including algebra and indeterminate analysis, and observe the way his reasonings involved oral explanations, drawings and handwritten tabular dispositions.
