まきんこさんの予定が迫っていたのと、
候補の中に19日が入っているので、12日締切にしていましたが、参加はまだまだ受付中です
今のところ、27日が一番良さそうですね
Lily とも相談してみたうえで、連休明けに改めて予定をこちらに書き込みさせていただきますので、しばしお待ちくださいませ。

はじめまして！
Lily とは引継ぎの際に少しだけ会ったのですが、子連れでのイベントについてなども話題に上っていたので、子連れでも全然問題ありません！
まきんこさんの渡米に伴って、先生との連絡役を引き受け、私もちょっとドキドキですが、一緒にコミュを盛り上げていけると嬉しいです。

I just wanted to say that I am looking forward to getting to know all of you during our first meeting. Don't be afraid to bring your children (I will be bringing mine- a baby and a 3 year old, both boys). Todake San and Moo San, it will be lovely to see you both again. みなさま、
27日ということで設定していきたいと考えています。時間は Lily の確認を受けてから決定しますので、現在は tentative ということで・・・。
それから、日付が少し先になったので募集期限を20日に変更しました。
お子様連れの方だけでなく、お子様連れで無い方も、お子様の年齢を教えてください。内容は Lily にすべてお任せしていますが、第一回目は自己紹介などもあるためお子様の年齢などから会話を広げていけると思います。

I am happy to see that we will have a number of members coming to CoCoChi on January 27th. For those who will be attending this is what we will be discussing:
First Hour- "Getting to know you"- Since this is my first time participating in your English community we will spend the first hour introducing ourselves and learning about each other. I will bring a handout so please bring a pen.
Second Hour- Language study techniques. Everyone will be coming to the community with different experiences, background and level. Let's use this hour to share techniques that will hopefully inspire each other. Please bring your ideas. I will provide a list of resources that will hopefully help you in your personal study.

See you on January 27th! Thanks for telling me in English... it is taking me a long time to read all the Japanese messages so I think I have been checking this site a million times a day slowly trying to figure out who is coming *lol*.
Emi and Hana had a good idea...anybody else joining us on the 27th can write "See you on the 27th...- (name)". I will avoid any mistakes and bring enough handouts.
Sorry for my poor Japanese reading skills!

Thanks to everyone who came today- what a fun group! I mentioned an additional website to Homoka and thought I would include it here: noggin.com .
In case anyone was wondering, "noggin" is slang for brain. So you might hear someone say "now that was using your noggin" if you did something noticably smart.
My mind is going full speed after meeting with all of you (what can I say, you inspired me!). I am considering the March theme to be about health as Moo San will be kindly doing a tai-chi presentation (I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!), depending on how February goes I might ask each of you to email me a short healthy recipe that I will gather together and print at the back of our handout. But we will discuss the possibilities in February.
A few of you lovely women and I had a discussion about a possible English play group. I briefly spoke to Mari about this and she seemed supportive. I will talk more to Mari about it and keep you posted. Until then- if you have any friends that are similar to yourself (having a good background in English) and wanted to immerse their preschooler (0- about 3 years old) in English please mention it to them. Sorry no absolute beginners though as the purpose of the group is not to "teach" English to the mothers- the purpose would be to provide an opportunity for the parent and child to utilize English together in a fun, NATURAL, environment through song, movement, stories and art. The goal is to expose the young child to the sounds of a different language,allow them to feel comfortable hearing it and using it (because they are doing the activities with the person they love most- their parent) and also provide a positive experience that will make them more receptive to English when they get older.
Finally- All of you have an impressive level of English- it has made me want to study my Japanese harder *lol*.

Lily and everyone,
It was a wonderful meeting yesterday! Thank you so much. I was so excited that I couldn't stop murmuring in English on may way to another appointment after the meeting. I might be smiling alone! Someone was looking at me curiously...
I can't wait until the next meeting! I wiil try to be prepared for it, like seeking interesting topic to share.

My son is going to kindergarten from this spring,
so I hope it starts soon and we can join you!

LibriVox provides free audiobooks from the public domain.
They have a lot of splended free audiobooks.
You can download any audiobook you like,
and enjoy them on your computer or MP3-player.
My favorites are "Anne of green Gables" and "the Secret Garden".
They read and record books as volunteer, but they are as good as audiobooks you can get at bookstores.
If you like to read books, you would enjoy them too.
