Spanking Machine was born in a punk club. Grew up in the fetish scene. And have now developed into producers of seductive, sophisticated electronic dance music.
The band's live shows made them a regularly featured act at some of the largest alternative culture events in the US, including the Los Angeles Fetish Ball, Club MakeUp and Sin-A-Matic. Spanking Machine's first album "Now Lie In It" achieved worldwide play and helped launch two successful tours, which included opening dates for acts like Nina Hagen and Thrill Kill Kult.
Spanking Machine has recently added a new member, Stuart Matheson, from the top progressive trance act Binary Finary. Together, they're producing a seductive sound that blends flavors of progressive, trance and electro, with alluring vocals and refined production.
The first single, Permission, will be released digitally and on vinyl in July 2009. Following that, a full length album and worldwide tour. - from thier my space _________________
Formed in Los Angeles by Mistress. Victoria Vaus and Quentin Z, Spanking Machine released their first album in 2001. Featuring additional music by guitarist Mr. M and drummer Sir Lawrence, Simple Solutions to Perverted Problems was a tongue-in-cheek ode to to the fetish scene set to an industrial rock beat. With a BDSM-inspired look designed by Vaus and song titles like "Nazi Love Slave" and "Evil Kitty," the band was an immediate underground hit in the S&M community scene, leading to appearances at Fetish Ball events in Los Angeles and Portland as well as several appearances with the Genitorturers and press coverage in such magazines as Skin Two, Marquis, and Hustler.
After a release of the Evil Kitty Remixxxes single in 2003, Spanking Machine underwent several line-up changes. After the departure of Mr. M and Sir Lawrence, Z took over guitarist duties in addition to programming, and new drummer Tromm Ler and bassist Kiki joined the band. Their second full-length album, Now Lie in It, showed a more focused sound, less influenced by industrial rock than EBM, synthpop and goth, with the guitar playing less of a central role and Vaus's vocals branching out to include more purely melodic elements in addition to the seductive and aggressive sides exhibited on the band's debut. Now Lie in It also expands the band's lyrical themes, though songs like "Favorite Slave" and "Immaculate Phallusy" continue to explore themes of alternative sexuality. During the first half of 2006, Spanking Machine made two successful tours of the southeast United States, and the band is currently at work on a remix accompaniment to Now Lie in It. - By: Matthew Johnson / September 20, 2006 http://www.regenmag.com/Artist-Spotlight-8-Spanking-Machine.html _____
