see the Transition Town Totnes (TTT) website here:
Transition Town Initiative
以下、案内メール全文 ‘The "Temporary Initiating Hub - Japan" is made up of a collection of acquainted individuals work with each other to help set up "local transition initiatives" in Japan. As the initiatives in Japan arise & take root , the hub will gradually disband.’
Hi this is Paul here from Koganei City in the suburbs of Tokyo,
If it is OK with you I would like to set up a "Temporary Initiating Hub in Japan" for anyone is who is interested in developments in Transition Town Initiatives in Japan and I would like to keep your name on the mailing list. I would like to keep Ben & Sophy on the mailing list to keep you informed of developments without necessarily expecting any reply as you must be very busy.
I’d like to report that things are going well with my Transition Town Initiative efforts in Koganei City, Tokyo.
Today I made contact with Tony Boys who is an expert on Peak Oil and Food issues in Japan (and also North Korea). Please see his website with links to some of his excellent research papers and articles on these issues in both English & Japanese: http://www9.ocn.ne.jp/~aslan/index.htm
He and I are planning to work together on transition initiatives in Japan. But obvious this thing will only work if the local Japanese themselves take it on as their task. He is considering starting a Transition Initiative in his local rural town near Mito, Ibaragi ken and will also help translate some of the PDF Transition Initiative Primer into Japanese.
Things are going well with preparations for our first Transition Town Initiative gathering in Koganei City on May 24th from 2-4pm. This event seems to be creating quite a lot of interest in my local community and also Tony says he may be able to join this event.
We now have 3 pages on a website with a explanation of this event in both English & Japanese and also a resource page for the "Temporary Initiating Hub in Japan" idea. Please see these links for details:

Running on empty? Fears over oil supply move into the mainstream

"After communal meditation and a few speeches, those present gathered in small groups to discuss everything from transport without oil to engaging local politicians in the “Transition Towns” movement’s stated aim: reducing their carbon footprint in response to concerns over diminishing hydrocarbon reserves as well as global warming. The mood in the group discussing energy was sombre. One former civil engineer predicted the demise of the lightbulb within a decade and derided the idea that market forces and human ingenuity could save the planet, laughing it off as “the magic wand” theory."
