Smoking Ban as of November 16, 2006:

State of Hawaii will no longer allow smoking in open public areas such as
airports, bars, nightclubs, small businesses or establishments with outdoor
seating without proper 20-feet smoke free zones.

These smoke free zones must have windows and ventilation systems.
Violations for individuals are $50.00 and business owners up to $500.00 for
repeat offenders.

Also, smoking would be banned on public beaches and parks, and cigarette
butts would have to be tossed only into designated trash bins. Violators
could be fined $250.

The American Lung Association research has determined that second hand smoke
causes adverse health effects, including cancer, respiratory infections, and
asthma.
