Thank you for your interest shown earlier in the year for the 'Green Sandwich Group' discussion forum. I am sorry it has taken a long time to organise due to a very hectic summer, but we will be beginning this group at the end of this month.
Many of you responded to the short questionnaire we sent in summer and most people would prefer the group to be in Japanese language, in an early evening slot, so this is what we are going to do (you will have to excuse my poor Japanese at the events but I will do my best).*
Our first meeting will be from 7pm until 9pm on Thursday October 30th, in the bar and lounge "greenz" in Jingumae, above the Omamori restaurant (Jingumae 3-29-3, tel ).You can see a map here: http://greenz.jp/lounge/#map. The cost will be 3000 per person including one drink and buffet food.
The idea of the Green Sandwich Group is to gather business people who would like to improve their environmental performance, but may need some tips and support from others to do this. The idea is similar to the 'slimming groups' that run in some countries - only in our case, we are trying to cut carbon not calories. We will meet approximately monthly and the format will be:
7:00 - 7:30 Casual networking over drinks and food 7:30 - 8:15 approx 1-2 speakers on a relevant topic to give us practical hints. For the first session, the topic will be implementing environmental management systems like ISO14001. 8:15 - 9:00 Question and discussion time. As a group we will discuss what we think would work in our businesses and share experiences.
Officially we will finish at 9 but the bar will be open for people who want to stay on longer.
If you would like to join this group, please send me an email to let me know, so that the venue can have a rough idea of numbers. You are welcome to invite other friends and business people who are interested in this topic.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you.
Paul
* If you would only like to attend English language discussions, I would like to recommend the 'Green Mondays' meeting as an alternative - you can find more details here: http://greenmondays.ning.com
