Fellow Paddlers,
The Micronesia Cup is on for 2006 and we'd like to take the opportunity to extend an invite. This year we will be hosting the race in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands from October 20-22, 2006. At present, we are scheduling 500 and 1500 meter sprint races and a long distance event.
For those of you who are interested in participating, we will be posting specific information including registration, rules, discount accommodation information, and a tentative schedule of events on our club website at www.saipanoutrigger.org. ( Our site is currently under construction so please bear with us as we try to make it more user friendly ) Also, if you have any questions regarding any details, please contact the race administrator at saipanoutrigger@gmail.com .
In order to better accommodate all incoming paddlers we ask all interested clubs to send a preliminary response to this email indicating: 1) number of crews, and 2) racing classes (mens, womens, mixed, open, junior, master, etc.). Responding early will help us ensure that everyone is accommodated and allow for easy follow up informational emails to interested teams. (As a courtesy, if you choose not to respond, we will remove your email address from our list.)
Also, as you are likely now planning your fall race schedules, please note that Guam, our Micronesian neighbor to the south, is hosting the Heineken Cup the following weekend. Two great racing opportunities in one trip!

Registration Forms are Available Now!
Thanks to all those who have expressed interest in coming to Saipan in October for the 8th annual Micronesian Cup! Registration forms for the Micronesian Cup 2006 are now available on our website! Please go to www.saipanoutrigger.org then click on the "8th Micronesian Cup", which will direct you to our Micronesian Cup page. Click the Registration link and you can download the registration form, print it, and fax it to the number provided or e-mail it if you can.
Sign Up Early and Receive a Discount on Registration Fees!
Teams who complete and send their registration forms and remit registration fees before September 22, 2006 will only have to pay a $180/per team registration fee. All teams registering on or after September 22, 2006 will be charged the $220/per team registration fee.
For your convenience, Micro Cup 2006 registration fees can be paid online by credit card though our secure Paypal link.
Canoes
I have received several inquiries to date regarding canoes. Please be assured that your timely registration ensures a canoe for your team. All participating canoes will be Hawaiian Class Racers.
We hope to have further information re: accommodations and airfare posted on our site within the next week or so. As always, please watch our website for updates and feel free to contact us should you have any questions!
