Introducing***Spiritual South ***
As modern day Renaissance man, Mark Robertson (a.k.a Spiritual South) built jazz-centric movement; around rare-groove, funk and jazz-dance genres, crate digging and an international perspective, it was the sounds of Latin America, Cuba, Afro-America and the raw, tribal rhythms from the African continent which would lead him to eventually blur the boundaries between them all and in turn harness his own distinct, dancefloor sound.
After 3 years of hosting Spiritual South events, Mark's impact on London clubland was soon be matched by his extension into production with his co-producer at the time Danny Lewis. His first remix, for Japanese superstars United Future Organization's "Suite Espagnole" (Exceptional Records) lead to the debut Spiritual South release "Green Gold"(Afro Art) a track which has been instant favorite by DJs; Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge, Kenny Dope, Jazzanova among othres.
Thereafter, Spiritual South has been responsible for some of the most influencial worldwide future music and has firmly established its name as a unique sounding force. A Spiritual South remix has now become something to anticipate as the success of A Bossa Electrica, Bebel Gilberto, DJ Technic, Gerado Frisina, Da Lata, Paul Murphy & Marc Woolford's big anthem "Jazz Room", Max Sedgley's "Happy" will testify.
Mark has been deejaying throughout the UK, mainland Europe, Asia and Australasia and continues to showcase new ways of delivering future grooves to the dancefloor. Music he finds hard to source, he makes. Genres that come from opposite ends of the music spectrum, he blends. This is where you will find the energy and the excitement to some of the most original dance music around.
