'Birthday in Valencia' - last night was 'Birthday in Madrid'. The goodvibrations of all the gathered peoples
lifted us onto a sweet & foamy surf of grooves - time moved at electric speed. Later - wrapped in concrete
& balloons hugging octopus in the Belly of the arena we ate chocolate cake & danced to Stevie Wonder.

Twice through the sky-hole Monterey to Guadalajara. Warm summer rain & the smell of wet dust, lightening & cleaned city air. Travelling in good company - later - added good food. Today - hunting local music & local instruments. New tunes bloom in hotel rooms.

Guadalajara - you were immense last night - great waves of joyous energy coming from you onto the stage. Bought Santos & Johnny, ate good food, saw great art in the e-wire from JW & fired up the hotel studios. Back to Mexico City today in preparation for a big one tomorrow night. Essex draws closer.

Wednesday 31st December
Arrived safely in the sarf. It was long & airconditioned - the journey through the sky-hole on a double-decker sky-hole-bus filled with the flutterings of gentle smiling stewardesses. Today as we step out onto southern streets I find myself in partial recall of events that went on behind the scenes in 2008...(more...)

Saturday 26th July - riding the Dragondola at Fujirock.
Sunday 27th July - trying to get changed out've wet stage clothes - standing naked in the dark in a
blacked-out marquee with only three sides trying not to distress the local crew.
(oh how we laugh)
Wednesday 30th July - A Zen garden in Kyoto

at some point in the year
our friend Anthony Minghella passed away. I felt a deep loss, the resonance of which surprised me
as we hadn't know Anthony for long yet had formed a bond with him which had gone so much
deeper than I'd realised. I was in shock for days. Like John Peel he was a 'connections-man',
a conduit between seemingly disparate people, he saw potential where others didn't. He would've
made so many more good things happen had he lived - his death was a huge loss & many creative
possibilities went with him.
Well, we're jet-lagged & need sleep, our bodies have no idea what time it is.
Thanks for a great year, you've given big joy everywhere we're been this year.
Are you comin' for the big one tonight...........?

素晴らしい一年だなぁと思うと共に、感性の豊かな人だと思いました。
Fujiでは、Dragondolaに乗ったんだね。
そして文末で、初めて、Anthony Minghella (Underworldもサウンドに関った映画「こわれゆく世界の中で」（原題 Breaking and Entering）の映画監督)の死を知りました。今更だけど、３月に亡くなっていたんだね。ご冥福をお祈りします。
