95% of the Japanese who I met here in Japan think that Iran is an Arabic country..Do you think like that too?
I went several times to Irani resturants and I hear customers saying: this Arabian food..this Arabian bla bla..
Iran is NOT an Arabic country, They use Arabic alphabet in their writting but they speak different language and their culture is different than Arabian culture.
what's made me really feel to write this that I got student today in my Arabic language class wanna start learn Arabic cuz she is interested in Iran!!!!!
The picture above show exactly the borders of the Arabic world (before putting borders at 1899).
Iran used to be home to the Medes and Persians, before they were amalgamated into the Achaemenid empire under Cyrus (whose grandfather had fucked up dreams, look up Herodotus 1.107-108) that would go on to forge the Western identity through threatening Greek civilization.
But yeah, they speak Farsi, which is actually a transliteration of the Persian pronunciation of "Persian," as far as I know.
I don't think Iran is an Arabic country, but most of Japanese think so.
I have studied Islamic culture and politics in my university, so I know a little about this world.
Many many Japanese have no interest about the world. Some of them don't know the position of Iran, Iraq, Israel, even America.
It's sad, but one real side of Japanese.
However, as you know, 5% of them know Arabic culture. This is very important. Please don't be disappointed at Japanese.
I'm not good at English, so tell me when you can't understand my writing.
By the way, I hope no Iranian read your question on the top. It is the most bitterest humiliation for them.
>> it's true and no need to be afraid of it.
By the way, I have went to many Arabic resturants in Tokyo with Arabian ownners (as the Japanese discriped them for me) and I found out that they are Irani resturants ...
One of my previous event Participators got so angry when I mentioned that the restaurant that she goes to is NOT Arabic and it's Irani...and she left my event immediately!
She is studying Arabic...can't she just read alittle about Arabic countries before she started learning Arabic??
Anyway, We are not in war between Arabs and Iranis here..We like Iranis and we respect them as we are from same area and have same religon too! and personally, I have so many Irani friends in Tokyo and abroad. This topic is just for correcting who doesn't know that Iran is NOT an Arabic country and has different culture just in case somebody doesn't know around here so far.
I can understand that 95% of Japanese don't know anything about Middle-East and don't have interests to there that much. That's a really shame, but it's true...
Actually, I've studied about Islam, Islamic culture, Muslim and so on in the university.
And what I felt is that kind of 95% of Japanese would think Muslim people are Arabian. I think that's why they are thinking Iran is one of Arabic countries.
actually i didn't know about arabic countries..also about Iran before.
i haven't studied enough about arabic countries and around countries in school in japan..just i studied that the gulf war happened..also some things about Islam.but now,i've been studying with many arabic students in England.they taught me about their country's things&problem.so i can know many things.sometimes it's really complicated&difficult for me,but i would like to know more.if i didn't come to England,i wouldn't know all of things..
many japanese live&study here.but i think they are not interested in other country's things..i don't know why.
sorry..my english is not good.
