Equal parts Neil Young, The Replacements, Okkervil River, and Wolf Parade, up-and-coming Vancouver band Ladyhawk find themselves right at home on Jagjaguwar with Ladyhawk, their debut LP, due out June 6th. Like many of the other bands on the Bloomington, IN-based imprint, Ladyhawk’s sound is deeply rooted in midwestern classic rock though never overbearing about it while undeniably reflective of the band’s folk and pop sensibilities. Ladyhawk is an emotional debut wrought with the same highwire vocals we’ve been hearing from Will Sheff on more recent Okkervil River efforts and the same stomp and delivery that characterizes Spencer Krug’s Wolf Parade songs.
