Everyone was telling me how great "Don't Mess with the Zohan" was, so despite finding Adam Sandler annoying I bought myself a ticket and had a look. If I can damn it with faint praise, it's a mildly amusing comedy that has enough to please the Adam Sandler fans but it's pretty slim pickings for everyone else. It drags out every stereotype about jews and palestinians it can for a laugh but that's probably only 30 minutes worth of laughs which they have poked and prodded into nearly 2 hours worth of film stock. It's hard to imagine anyone ever listing this as their favourite film and to be honest I doubt it will even be remembered in 6 months time. If you have nothing better to do, go for it....but all things being equal I'd rather do the vacuuming, at least at the end of that I have a clean floor.
advice taken, I'll wait for it to go on rental and take a look then.
In the meantime... I'm looking forward to see The happening.
At least M. Night's films always give people that fear and surprise factor that a suspense movie should do.
Just like in "the village".
I really wished read this review first.... I got fooled by the reviews in the spill.com, watched it, and.... Yeah, they had some funny materials, but I think 30 min. of it was enough....
Adam Sandler trotting around in a shorts was a weird movie concept, but it was interesting to see his take on racial conflict and the idea of American dream.
