For Sale - Pimsleur Japanese Language Lesson CDs level 1, 2, and 3

Each level comes with 30 half-hour audio lessons of grammar and vocabulary, plus a disk of study notes and cultural comments. This is 15 hours of real-life spoken practice sessions on a set of 16 learning CDs (two 1/2 hour lessons per CD, plus the notes disk). This set is in excellent condition.

The Pimsleur system is very popular and easy to use. You listen to words and phrases and repeat until you've grasped the material. From the description on Amazon.com:

"With Pimsleur Language Programs you don't just study a language, you learn it -- the same way you mastered English! And because the technique relies on interactive spoken language training, the Pimsleur Language Programs are totally audio -- no book is needed!

The Pimsleur programs provide a method of self-practice with an expert teacher and native speakers in lessons specially designed to work with the way the mind naturally acquires language information. The various components of language -- vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar -- are all learned together without rote memorization and drills. Using a unique method of memory recall developed by renowned linguist, Dr. Paul Pimsleur, the programs teach listeners to combine words and phrases to express themselves the way native speakers do. By listening and responding to thirty minute recorded lessons, students easily and effectively achieve spoken proficiency."

I used these when I was starting to learn Japanese. They were very convenient to use so I could study at the same tim as I commuting. I bought each set from Amazon for well over US$200 each. Now I have moved beyond these level-wise, so am looking to sell them.

These are the original disks. The booklets that came with the disks are included. I have the original carrying cases for level 2 and 3 (though seem to have lost the case for level 1 - these will come in a standard CD holding case)

Dimensions of each carrying case:
Height: 13.0 in.
Width: 12.0 in.
Thickness: 2.0 in.
Weight: 41.6 oz.

Price - asking $150 per level (15 hours of lessons, plus study notes/cultural comments disk), or $400 for all 3 levels (total of 45 hours of lessons, plus 3 study notes/cultural comments disks). if you buy all 3, it is less than what I paid for 2 of the levels.

Will ship within the US for $5 per level or $10 for all 3. If ouside of US and interested, I'd have to look into shipping costs.

Message me if interested.

Oh man.... I bought these.... You're kidding right? I bought Pimsleur's Japanese Set #1 (6 CDs with 10 half hour lessons total) from Barnes & Noble for a little more than $20!! Are you seriously trying to sell them for $150!! I am not one to write badly about people ... honestly, I would normally stick up for someone or at least show some encouragement... I am hoping you will respond telling me that you're CDs are different than the ones I have (in my hand!!)... even though they have the same name.

There are different Pimsleur's sets. The Comprehensive ones definitely go for well over $200, depending on where you buy them.

It might be good to include the ISBN number so people can look up the item online to check the price/contents, etc. (and so there is no confusion over which sets you are selling).
The ones I am offering are the 16 CD "comprehensive" versions. I did a quick search of the B&N web site. They offers the cassette version of Level 1 for $265 (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&isbn=0671521551&itm=7). They also have the CD version of level III for $310 (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&isbn=0760743894&itm=5). of, I quoted the 'member' prices - not sure what that means. Non-members pay more (note - I found them cheaper at Amazon, so if anyone wants to buy but not from me for whatever reason, I recommend checking there).

I think the 6 CD set is like a loss leader for them. I don't know if they are the same as the first 6 CDs from level 1 of the Comprehensive set, or if they are different. I guess they offer them cheap in hope of selling the comprehensive sets for more.

What do you think of the CD set you have? Has it been useful?
文san,

Thanks for the note, and support.

Here are the Amazon listings for what I am offereing:

Thanks guys, I'm really relieved! The CD set I have is kinda funny! ^^ They teach you how to ask a someone out for a drink or something to eat, how to ask for directions to the place you are meeting, how to ask about time, and how to order at a restaurant... also some weather stuff for small talk. So... pretty much it's a ten CD set of how to get a date in Japan! It didn't tell me what it would be covering on the package... so I thought it was really funny by about the fifth CD the things it had me saying. It was really easy to learn from and I still remember everything it taught! (I haven't listened to them in about 5 months.)

Anyway, thanks for researching it online! Hope your set sells well! I recommend them to Japanese learners!
I quite liked the pimsleur. But I grabbed them off bit- torrent and listen to them on my mp3 player. 16 CDs ? $150 - thats crazy talk !
