John Huldt was born and raised in a small town in the farmlands of Sweden. He started taking piano lessons (on his mothers incentive) at the age of ten and picked up the guitar at 14. He started a band with a friend playing Nirvana covers but shortly started to listen more to heavier bands like Slayer and Morbid Angel. He also started writing his own songs and played with several bands. While in high school, as a music major, he was subjected to many different styles of music from jazz to funk and this is where he heard of players like Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai and Van Halen for the first time. These had a major impact on his playing and this was when he decided he wanted to get good at playing the guitar. John played in various bands in various styles (from thrash metal to flamenco trios and instrumental rock bands) until in 2006 he decided to move to Los Angeles to study at the LA Music Academy under Frank Gambale. It was during his school year he met with drummer Kal Drakopolous and world renowned bass player Philip Bynoe whom he recorded his first solo album "Rules Do Not Apply" with.
John also lists guitarists like Brad Paisley, Guthrie Govan, Carl Verheyen and Mattias IA Eklundh as very influential on his playing. Composers like John Williams and Koji Kondo have also had a big impact on Johns music.
When not playing the guitar John enjoys fine dining, movies, hanging out with friends, travel and lifting weights. He also often goes to the beach in his hometown of Santa Monica, CA.
